Many tourists going to the famous Tatev Monastery see this site from above while on the Wings Of Tatev Aerial Tramway but most never visit this beautiful treasure. The construction of Tatevi Mets Anapat began in 1660 after the destruction of Hrants hermitage in 1658 from earthquake which was located to the south of the current complex. Hakob patriarch decided to build Tatevi Mets Anapat to this site in the Vorotan river valley and to transfer the former congregation to there.
